Community Council

The local tier of governance for each CSET school is undertaken by a Community Council. The Trust is particularly keen to emphasise the importance of each of the schools within their local community, so ensuring a strong link to the local community is fundamental to the Trust's approach.

Schools are an important part of local democracy and the link between Cherry Garden and its community helps ensure that the school provides a high quality education for all children in the community.

At Cherry Garden, through the representation of different stakeholder groups ( parents, staff, community), our Community Councillors have a strong understanding of the school and its community. The current Councillors are listed below.

The Community Councils feedback to Trust leaders and trustees through formal termly meetings. The Chair's Group co-ordinates agendas and programmes of work to ensure each council is able to provide a valuable community insight and avoids duplication of work with the role of trustees and trust leaders.

Structure

The governing body has agreed the following structure to conduct its work:

Full Governing Body	Meets at least 6 times per academic year and carries out all of the governing bodies business in line with Standing Orders document: setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction; holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and it’s pupils; and overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure it’s money is well spent.
Link Governors	Each governor has a number of areas of the school to which they are linked. They focus on monitoring and reviewing these areas with the relevant staff within the school, and then report back to the Full Governing Body. Focus areas include Pupil Premium, Curriculum, SEND, Finance, English, Maths and Safeguarding.
Pay Panel	Undertaking the performance management of the headteacher and ratifying staff pay decisions.
Complaints / Exclusions / Staff Grievance Panel	This panel will be assembled if required in line with the terms of reference.
